There's one thing I can guarantee mon mari will always be willing to spend money on.
I blame France. I think most of you would agree that France does that sort of thing to people.
He used to enjoy going on shopping sprees at REI
and now he's buying bottles of red and white in bulk at wine expositions. Seriously, what happened
to Yuengling and football games? Last Saturday mon mari was jumping up and down with excitement as we headed into the 2012 Salon des Vins des Vignerons Indépendants
at Porte de Versailles. You would have thought he'd won the lottery. He saw folks pouring out of the exposition area with boxes of wine and immediately turned to me and asked why we didn't bring a suitcase. Did I mention we already have twenty bottles of wine sitting at home?
We spent a good part of the afternoon strolling the exposition hall tasting wine and before we knew it someone had purchased eighteen bottles. As you can imagine, after two glasses of wine (you're supposed to spit it out, what?!) one's credit card slips out of the wallet quite easily. Those eighteen bottles plus our previous stock are now taking over the spare room. Bottles of wine cover a surprisingly large part of our small living space. And mon mari thought I had a shoe problem.
I definitely recommend visiting the Salon des Vins when it comes back to Paris in March especially if living in France has made you a wanna be wine connoisseur. The event will be held at the Espace Champerret in the 17th arrondissement from March 22 to 25. Just remember to bring a suitcase to haul all that wine you'll buy home!
