Marriott Corporate Codes

With so much interest around Hilton hotels corporate codes, IHG promos, discounts for Best Western, Choice Hotels corp codes, and Hyatt codes, I’ll be focusing on another popular family of hotels, Marriott.

This Marriott discount code guide is perfect for those that are looking for a deep discount on hotel bookings and are paying with cash (or credit) as opposed to those that are looking to book on points which is a whole other part of the hotel game, similar to what we did for our recent vacation to Le Meridien Bora Bora (now rebranded to a Westin) .

As you’ll learn, you can save a significant amount with these codes and are great for the larger resorts & spas and booking villas, or for weekend getaways and local stays.

When you get to scroll through the list of Marriott corporate codes below, you’ll see that you can achieve savings as good as 22% off in North America and Europe, and as good as 48% in other parts of the world.

Can anyone use these corporate codes?

Simple answer: No

More in depth: Keep on reading

While similar to car rental corporate codes, what makes hotel corporate codes different and more difficult to use is that the hotel staff are trained to be more diligent about asking for identification to prove that you are associated to the company your code is for.

How often do staff ask for ID? There are only anecdotal stats about this but for Marriott, it’s a 20-50% chance.

TIP: These codes are often shared with consultants for companies.

What do I need to prove affiliation with the company?

Officially, Marriott says:

Please be prepared to show proof of eligibility for your rate (such as a membership card, corporate or government identification card, or proof of your age).

This means that according to the rules, you need to provide either a business card, work badge, work-email printout that you’re affiliated with the company and the associated code you’re using.

List of Marriott corporate codes

Here is a full listing of Marriott corporate codes for your information.

As most of you know, Marriott and Starwood (SPG) merged in 2018 and at the time there wasn’t clarity around how corporate discount codes would be affected. What they’ve done is essentially consolidate the codes by converting old SPG codes into Marriott ones.

The challenge of course in putting this together was cleaning up everything, figuring out what still works, and which old codes were converted to new ones. I had checked every single one and performed my own calculations on discount rates.

The methodology

To try to get a good sense of how these corporate codes work and understanding that the codes vary property to property and region to region, I wanted to cover as much as I reasonably could.

I ended up choosing 4 different hotels for one night in Toronto, Washington, D.C., Frankfurt, and Tokyo.

Going through massive lists of old codes, I cleaned out all the ones that didn’t work, ones that yielded 0% discount, and also ones that only worked in one region.

To that effect, I really wanted to make sure I selected codes that could work in all destinations.

The disclaimer here is that the “% Off” that you see is specific for the parameters I used. It helps give you an idea of the amount of promotion but from my experience, it is not consistent within a region or even within the same city.

Corporate codes also don’t apply to all hotels and can change code to code.

List of codes

Marriott corporate codes are 3 digits, mostly characters but some have numbers in them as well.

These are sorted alphabetically by the company that they’re associated with for full transparency.

TIP: Each of the links will copy the code to your computer’s clipboard so you can paste it and it will also take you to the Marriott booking page with the code already entered to save you time.

Good to know: The advantage of the corporate codes is that they offer free cancellation up until 12:00 PM hotel time on the day of your reservation.

Which corporate discount code is the best?

The age-old question of the “best”. Between regions, there’s so much variation and even between properties but if I strictly look at the calculations that I made, here are my top 5 codes:

How to enter a Marriott corporate code

Entering a Marriott corporate code is quite easy. Here are the 4 steps to put in the code once you land on the Marriott website.

Head to the homepage and look for “Special Rates”.

how to enter marriott corporate code step 1

With “Special Rates” open, click on “Corporate/Promo/SET#” and a new field will be revealed below where you can enter in the corporate code. Notice how this is the same field whether you’re using a corporate code or a Marriott coupon code.

how to enter marriott corporate code step 2

The results won’t reveal much but what is telling is which properties have rates available. If your corporate codes doesn’t work for certain hotels, it will either say “Rate Unavailable” or will flat out say “Unavailable”.

how to enter marriott corporate code step 3

When you go to “View Rates”, you’ll be able to see the standard rate and the corporate code rate. Under the “Special Rates” tab, you’ll also see which company the code entered is for.

how to enter marriott corporate code step 4

From here, this is just a matter of clicking on “Select” to complete the booking process and getting to the final checkout page.

How to quickly compare rates

Knowing how to apply the codes and which codes are “the best” is one thing but as you’ve read, there’s a level of randomness to how they work that you’ll still want to compare them.

You can do this manually one at a time like I did, or you can go about it smarter.

A neat little trick I learned recently is to use the Marriott mobile app. Here’s how it works.

After you enter in your hotel search parameters, look for “Corporate/promotional code”.

You can enter as many corporate codes as you want but the key is that you can only select 5 codes to compare at a time.

In this example for Cairo, the sweet thing is that you can see the lowest prices for the standard “Advanced Purchase” price and also the 5 corporate codes selected.

In the above example, you’ll see that only 4 codes worked whereas the American Express code did not work.

Marriott Bonvoy discounts

marriott bonvoy elite sign in bora bora bora tips to save money

The Marriott rewards program is called Marriott Bonvoy or simply just Bonvoy. The focus of hotel brands is to get their members to book directly with them and with that, they try to offer good discounts and savings.

While corporate codes will intuitive feel like you’re getting a good discount, the truth is that logging in as Marriott Bonvoy member and seeing what you get can sometimes yield better savings.

The best of the savings is a Member Prepay Rate. If you look closely below, the rate for this Toronto hotel is lower than most corporate codes that are available.

marriott prepay and save discount

The downside to the Prepay and Save deals are that they are non-refundable which may not work for many people.

Special promotions

Every quarter or so Marriott rolls out new promotions. Some are good, some are quite ambiguous, and others are not worth your time.

Many promotions are exclusive for Marriott Bonvoy members so it’s a no brainer to join if you haven’t already yet.

Check the latest Marriott hotel deals

The first place you should always look to see what’s happening is the page below.

Public Marriott discount codes

marriott vancouver airport hotel lobby in richmond bc

From the corporate codes, there are a bunch of similar looking codes that are available for the public to use.

These codes are constantly changing and created to facilitate different promotions.

The best place to find these public Marriott codes is on Flyertalk where there’s a built-in wiki that shows you all the of the current and valid ones and it’s updated frequently enough.

You’ll find with these codes that the discounts are unknown and will take a lot of trial and error but if you’re dedicated, you can test them out.

AAA, CAA, and Senior discounts

Almost every hotel chain has offers for special memberships and seniors and Marriott is no different.

For those that have a AAA or CAA membership, you are also entitled to savings. Officially, CAA and AAA members get a discount of 5% off the base rate. That said, it’s still worth checking the discount you can get because I’ve seen it as good as 20-30% off.

The only limitation is that you’re limited to 2 rooms per AAA/CAA member per night.

The senior discount rate is if you are 62 or older. The discount is 15% off the base rate.

Price matching

One thing that’s easy to forget is Marriott’s Best Rate Guarantee program.

Here’s how it works.

If you find a lower rate for the same hotel, room type and dates (with somewhere like Booking.com) within 24 hours of making your reservation, all you have to do is submit a Best Rate Guarantee claim form.

You get one of two choices:

  1. 25% off the matching rate (20% for Design Hotels)
  2. Get 5,000 Marriott Bonvoy Points

The code you can’t use

jw marriott the rosseau muskoka lounge

For completion, I have to mention a code that are known but you really can’t use.

This is the MMP code and called the Marriott Explore Friends Leisure Rate.

Intended for employee use, this code yields the highest amount of discount, where I saw 26% off in Toronto, 20% off in Washington D.C., 35% in Frankfurt, and 38% in Tokyo.

From what I’ve read, they almost always check ID for this around the world so the risk of using this as a non-employee is high.

It is also worth nothing that you can earn any points or get any night/stay stats if you use this.

Status Matching with Marriott Bonvoy

If you have status at another hotel chain, you can complete a challenge that is essentially an accelerated program to get you that same status with Marriott Bonvoy.

The thing is, with Bonvoy, their status matching program isn’t promoted. It’s kind of a secret but it’s the kind of thing that is widely known in the travel hacking community.

Here’s how it works:

  • You have to call Marriott at 1-800-535-4028 and tell them you want to do either the “Gold Status Challenge” or “Platinum Status Challenge”.
  • You will then get one of these offers:

PRO TIP #1: Make sure you document the entire process. Since this isn’t an “official” challenge, there could be a glitch along the way.

PRO TIP #2: Start this challenge when you know you have a big trip coming up and call 1-2 days before your first stay so you can maximize your 90 days.

Travel Resources For Your Next Trip

If you’re in the process of planning your trip and putting together your itinerary, these are genuinely the best resources that the Going Awesome Places team stands by 100%.
Credit Cards

Don’t get burned by hidden fees on top of terrible exchange rates. When we travel now, we use the Wise Card. Simply load it with the currency you need before you go and use it as a regular VISA or their digital wallet card. Use their free app to track how much you have and top up when you need to.

Flights

In our opinion, of all the booking search engines, Skyscanner is the most helpful and easy to use thanks to their Everywhere feature. Kayak is also another that’s we will often check.

Car Rental

If you’re looking to save money, these car rental coupon codes will be a true game-changer. Otherwise, DiscoverCars and Booking’s car rental platform are great places to start.

Rideshare

You probably already have accounts but if you don’t, for new Lyft users, use code WILLIAM4825 to get 50% off your first 2 rides (max $10 per ride). Offer valid for 14 days after you take your first ride. For new Uber users, use code cbh4j6plxt8p for the same offer except it’s valid for 30 days.

Airport Parking

You’ll need a spot to leave your car at the airport so why not book a spot at a discount. Use code AWESOME7 to get at least $5 off at Airport Parking Reservations or Park Sleep Fly packages.

eSIM

eSIM: This is our go-to way of staying connected.  Below are the discounts we have acquired for our readers.

Wifi Hotspot

We’ve been a huge fan of wifi hotspot devices such as PokeFi (use code GAP24300) because their rates are are hard to beat and it works globally. Solis is another that we recommend. Pros are that you can share the wifi with your whole group but cons are that you have to invest in a device and you have to charge it every night.

Hotels

Our go-to is Booking.com because they have the best inventory of properties including hotels and B&Bs plus they have their Genius tier discounts. Expedia is also worth using especially with their One Key rewards program which is basically like cash. The exception is Asia where Agoda always has the best prices. Always do a quick check on TripAdvisor as well.

Vacation Rentals

Your first instinct will be to go to Airbnb but we always recommend checking VRBO as well if you’re looking for a vacation rental (now eligible for One Key).

Tours and Activities

When planning our trips, we always check both Viator and GetYourGuide to at least see what’s out there in the destination that we’re going to. They often have different offerings and prices so check both.

Travel Insurance

Learn how to buy the best travel insurance for you. This isn’t something you want to travel without.

  • HeyMondo – Popular insurance provider for frequent travelers and comes with great coverage and special perks. By booking through our link to get a 5% discount!

The Discussion

    1. Hey! I think your best bet is to try out the codes that have the highest discount percentage under the “Asia % off” column.

    2. Hi William,

I really appreciated your page because it saved me a lot of money and allowed me to travel to cool places!

I recently tried my favorite CDP code, AT&T, and as of Oct. 9, 2023, it seems Hertz replaced the code. The new code is 1705687.

There is also CDP code for military/government, 1238193, which also provides great discount.

I tested several other codes but these are the best in my research.

      Cheers!

  1. I have been using the Accenture code (ACC) for years and have never been asked to provide any ID or verification. It is the BEST code for discounts and availability is normally not restricted.

  2. Canadian companies codes have been yielding good results for me on domestic hotels: BCE, ROG, IRV, TDB, BMO, DJA, BOM, …

  3. Employee codes do rack points and night stays toward elite status… I am an employee and use them all the time

      1. Good day. I’m in Bahrain today, headed for Saudi Arabia by bus. On this adventure I will do 5 countries mostly using public transportation. I’m 65, with 66 countries visited. To your point, on this trip I have
Been staying exclusively at Marriott properties working my way to Platinum Elite for the second year. Working the codes from Corporate to senior citizen rates. Slow season in the Middle East so I have been securing great rates and room upgrades to suites, which has been sweet! Gaining status, mainly through credit cards has also added executive Lounge privileges and breakfast buffet. Really have not needed to buy meals outside the hotels. Do you know of a credit card that gives me titanium status? Other benifits to ask for ie free laundry or other services? Thinking of backpacking once around the planet next year and gathering ideas for telecom, accommodations and perhaps specialized information to emboldened senior travel.

        1. I wish I did! I don’t think there are any cards that provide instant Titanium status. I don’t even think there’s a fast track or match method for Titanium but if I hear about it, I’ll be sure to let you know!

  4. Thanks for this. Looking for codes where additional points are awarded. I have used M11 (which was offered in a special promo for a given hotel/city) in the past, but there must be others.

    1. I’ve seen these in the past but I haven’t encountered any recently. As you mentioned, they’ve mostly been hotel/city specific in the past.

  5. Just wanted to correct something in your copy that says you don’t get points or nights when using an MMP pass. That’s actually false!

    1. From what I could tell, these are two separate corporate codes for different companies. There’s Apple that we all know of as consumers but I think there’s a separate Apple Computers company. I could be wrong though!

      1. I would love to know what happened to GDY. Can’t imagine General Dynamics stopped using Marriott. Hoping someone posts their new code.

  6. This post is really useful and very informative. I love how the discount code works for my educational research. I am not planning to use it actually though but heads-up for this blog post.

      1. You can receive points on an employee rate. They changed it last year so more employees are encouraged to stay at Marriott properties. Employee rates also extend to immediate family and a similar discount is available for friends of the associate.

        1. Thanks for the update there! I wonder i that applies to corporate codes or just the friends & family type internal codes?
